Clarus belongs to a class of medications called retinoids, which are related to vitamin A. The medication works on your sebaceous glands to dramatically reduce oil production, which helps clear up even the most stubborn acne. Unlike topical treatments that just work on the surface, Clarus gets to the root of the problem from the inside out.
Available in 10mg and 40mg capsules, each bottle contains 30 capsules. Your doctor will determine the right strength based on your weight and how severe your acne is. This medication isn't available over the counter because it requires a prescription and regular monitoring.

Can I get pregnant while taking Clarus?
Clarus causes severe birth defects in nearly all exposed pregnancies. You must use two reliable forms of birth control and have monthly pregnancy tests. If you become pregnant, stop the medication immediately and contact your doctor.
Can I drink alcohol while taking Clarus?
Moderate alcohol consumption is generally acceptable, but both Clarus and alcohol can affect your liver. Your doctor will monitor your liver function with regular blood tests. Heavy drinking should be avoided.
Can I have cosmetic procedures while on Clarus?
No waxing, dermabrasion, or laser treatments while taking Clarus and for 6 months after stopping. The medication makes your skin more fragile and prone to scarring from these procedures.
