Osphena is a prescription oral tablet used to relieve moderate to severe vaginal dryness and painful intercourse (dyspareunia) caused by vulvar and vaginal atrophy in postmenopausal women.
Please note: a valid prescription is required for all prescription medication.
Osphena (generic: ospemifene) is a selective estrogen receptor modulator (SERM). It binds to estrogen receptors in a tissue-selective way: in the vaginal tissue it acts like estrogen (agonist effect) to restore the lining and improve lubrication, while in other tissues it may act differently. The net effect in the vaginal tissues includes improvement in cell types, reduction in vaginal pH, and alleviation of dryness and pain during sex.
